Technical Integrations

Overview

Rubric supports integrations with external systems to help streamline your operations and reduce manual work. Each integration is tailored to your organisation’s needs, so the setup and approach may vary depending on your requirements.

Important to Know

Integration scope and setup will vary depending on:

  • What is included in your contract

  • The complexity of the external system

  • The availability of APIs or technical documentation

Turnaround time can vary significantly and is often influenced by:

  • The responsiveness of the external system

  • Technical constraints or limitations

  • The clarity of requirements provided

Your Role in the Integration Process

A successful integration starts with clear requirements.

Before development begins, your team will need to outline:

  • The workflow you want to achieve in Rubric and the integrated system

  • What data should be sent or received

  • The expected outputs (e.g. reports, updates, triggers)

  • Any conditions or rules that should apply

The more specific and structured this is, the faster and more accurately we can implement your integration.

Typical Integration Process

While each integration is unique, most follow a similar structure:

1. Requirements Gathering

  • You define the desired workflow and outcomes

  • Rubric reviews feasibility and scope

2. Technical Scoping

This might require you granting Rubric access to your tools/systems to:

  • Identify integration method (API, webhook, file import, etc.)

  • Review documentation from external systems

  • Define data mapping and logic

3. Development

  • Rubric’s engineering team builds the integration

  • Internal testing is conducted

4. Validation & Testing

  • Your team tests the integration in a controlled environment

  • Feedback is collected and adjustments are made

5. Deployment

  • Integration is deployed to your live environment

  • Monitoring and final checks

Collaboration is Key

Integrations are a joint effort between your team and ours.

To keep things moving smoothly:

  • Share documentation early

  • Be clear about expected outcomes

  • Consolidate feedback during testing
